Do you know your Cue Ball Control Factors?

Sure… you know how to aim and execute basic shots, but the next step to Mastery is learning to control where the cue ball will go for the next shot. This is called the “Cue Ball Control Factors.” The most important goal in pool is to pocket the object ball, but the second most important goal is to leave the cue ball in a good spot to allow you to pocket the next and remaining object balls.

It is also important to predict cue ball motion when needing to detect and avoid a scratch, plan position routes, avoid “traffic” (obstacle balls), and to aim carom (kiss) shots and break-out (cluster separation) shots.

Slop shots are for the amateur, but you don’t want to depend on slop for winning league play and tournaments. You WILL need to master the Cue Ball Control Factors!

In this video, Dr. Cue from McDermott Cues explains how to use english along the vertical line to control the ball. Watch and learn!
